Acts 28:25-27 (KJV)
[25] And when they had disagreed among themselves, they departed, after Paul had spoken one word: “Well spoke the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, [26] saying, ‘Go unto this people, and say, Hearing, ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing, ye shall see, and not perceive: [27] For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.’”
In this chapter, the Apostle Paul addresses people whose hearts were so hardened that they could not receive the truth of the gospel. Even today, when we share the gospel, we sometimes encounter the same response: people who are unwilling to see, hear, or understand the message because of a hardened heart.
Paul reminds us that true spiritual conversion is a process that involves the whole person, encompassing mind, body, and spirit.

First, we must begin with what we hear:
Hearing: We need to listen with our ears and understand the message of salvation. Hearing God’s Word cannot be a passive experience; it must take root within us. Even after salvation, ongoing communication with God is essential.
Next, our vision needs to shift:
Look: Our spiritual eyes must be open to perceive the truth. We must open our blind eyes to the truth. Spiritual blindness keeps us from walking in freedom, but when our eyes are opened, God’s light shines through.
Then, God calls us to open the deepest part of ourselves:
Heart: Our hearts need illumination, receiving the truth about Jesus Christ, and not hardening our hearts helps to bring our heart, mind, and Spirit alive.
Finally, we reach the purpose of it all:
When these steps take place, conversion and healing follow. The ultimate goal is repentance, which is the key that unlocks conversion. Through repentance, we begin to see ourselves as God sees us and recognize our deep need for a Savior.
In closing, may we experience true conversion through repentance and open our whole being to the truth.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, I pray that you will open my spiritual ears that I may hear, my heart that I may receive your truth, and my eyes that I may no longer be spiritually blind. Lord, help me to realize my need for a Savior and to seek you with a heart of repentance. It is my desire to be fully converted to walk with Jesus in these last days. Thank you for hearing these prayers in the name of Jesus. I pray, Amen!
Reflection Questions:
1. Where are you in your conversion process?
2. In which area do you need renewal or repentance?
